What is Staleless?
Staleless is a documentation platform for writing, publishing, finding, and maintaining product documentation. It combines a visual editor, Markdown and Git workflows, published sites, Pulse freshness signals, analytics, search, and agent-ready access.
Does Staleless replace Git?
No. Your Markdown can live in Git, and Staleless adds a writing and publishing workflow around it. Teams that do not want to work in Git can use the visual editor without giving up a reviewable history.
Can I import existing documentation?
Yes. Staleless supports Markdown folders and GitBook exports, with paths for Docusaurus, Notion, OpenAPI, and other structured documentation sources. Imports report unsupported content instead of silently dropping it.
How does Pulse keep documentation current?
Pulse combines review dates, repository changes, OpenAPI changes, link checks, reader searches, and feedback. It shows which pages are current, need review, or appear outdated, together with the evidence behind that state.
Can I use my own domain and branding?
Yes. Paid plans include custom domains, branding controls, themes, and custom CSS. Free sites include a small “Powered by Staleless” mark.
Does Staleless support private documentation?
Yes. Pro and higher plans support private documentation. Business and Enterprise add controls intended for larger teams, with SAML or OIDC available by agreement for Enterprise.
What does agent-ready documentation mean?
Published sites can expose Markdown representations, llms.txt files, a read-only content API, and MCP access. The same reviewed source serves human readers and software instead of creating a second copy to maintain.
Does Staleless train models on my private documentation?
Private content is used only to provide the requested workspace features. Deployment-specific privacy and retention terms belong in the final service agreement and privacy policy before launch.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan supports one person and one documentation site, including the editor, publishing, search, imports, basic Pulse, and limited AI-assisted features. No credit card is required to start.
Can I leave later?
Yes. Git and Markdown remain the source of truth for connected projects, and the product supports export. A documentation platform should make publishing easier without making departure harder.
